    St Andrew's Day Dinner

Looking forward to the St Andrew's Day dinner of the Scottish Society of Southeastern Wyoming and celebration being held this next weekend in Cheyenne. I am honoured to be presenting the St Andrew's address for the program. Who else is attending their local function to celebrate St Andrew and Scotland?

Scottish Dave’s Pub in Clinton, Connecticut has a Whisky Club tasting on the last Thursday of each month, which this year happens to fall on St. Andrew’s Day.* After Whisky Club will be a performance by Baird Welch-Collins on bagpipes, Irish bouzouki, and guitar, with history and stories interspersed. (Baird is also the pipe major of the St. Edmund’s Pipe and Drum Corp.) Not 100% determined yet, but Dave is likely to have a special menu that night. (Dave is a chef from Glasgow.)

*Interestingly, the January Whisky Club happens to fall on Burns Night.

Baird’s a delightful guy. Fr Tom who took the band under his wing gave me a beautiful St Edmund’s kilt.

I’ll have a St Andrew’s dinner at my house with former parishioners.

I agree, Baird is a treasure around here. And the St. Edmund’s kilt is quite striking!
