Garter types?
I am trying to decide which style of garter to buy? Any thoughts, advice or pros and cons of each?

As a first timer I found the House of Edgar garters with flashes easy to use. I haven't tried the hose ties yet. Just for reference I have a 16 inch calf...your mileage may vary.

I prefer ties.
One inch cotton webbing comes in many colors.

I prefer garter ties as well. they come generally wider which makes them more comfortable to wear. of course, they don't need to strangle your calf to work either so be careful not to tie them too tightly. This applies to elastic garters too...

There's another concurrent thread on just about the same topic, as well as several (lots!) old ones. I'm in favour of self-tied knitted garters tied so as to reveal only a shade more than the fringe itself. They're comfortable, look good, are traditional, easy to tie and wear, and are in no sense "silly."

I have both but prefer the garter ties. With 17 inch calf I make my own so they fit well. This allows me to use different colors in the weaving so I can use the ties with different kilts and kilt hose. I keep a pair of navy blue/dark flashes for all purpose use because they will go with about anything.

Father Bill, I'm sorry but did do a couple searches and really didn't find my answers.
Brewerpaul, those are very nice ties. I too would like to get directions for making my own.
