    Kilt in daily newspaper

In yesterdays attachment (ONA) to daily newspaper DELO there was a short presentation of Mr. Kevin Morrison with his photo beenig kilted. See the scanned image and a sort of translation below. Sorry for not realy nice translation. I must say I was very happy to see this in the paper which is one of the most selling papers in Slovenia.

The things are moving in right dirrection!

    A lot of and nothing

    Author: Klavdia Miko

Kevin Morrison, like a real Scot, at all times likes to wear traditional Scottish kilt, especially on special occasions. He says:” Tartan, woollen fabric with different Scottish patterns, traditionally represents membership to clan or family. There are many tartans registrated, even fans of Scottish football team have their own; Tartan Army. Tartan Morrison is modern version”. Kevin came in Ljubljana in 2002 for first time and now he’s a president of “British Chamber of economics” in Slovenia.

“The sporran is an accessory to kilt, where you can hold a bottle of whiskey and mobile phone (which was not part of attire in case of Army or Nobility in the past for sure).”, jokingly says Kevin Morrison. The traditional short knife is a part of traditional attire which is safely hidden in long woollen hose. Kilt belt and kilt pin (with stylized family crest) mustn’t be omitted.

It’s taken for granted that people have warmed up for Scottish tartan because of great media support given by Sean Connery in Mel Gibson, who were showing their knees in the kilt. “Men wearing the kilt, had never offered any cause to doubt about their masculinity”, says Morrison. “As a matter of fact you feel even more man in a kilt, which is hard to understand if you’re not Scot”. His answer on standard question “what is warren under the kilt”, he’s answering:” My classical answer is a lot and nothing.”

I hope they will not sue me for this

Thank you for the scan and the translation. It is a very positive article--good publicity for the kilted community. Cheers!

More good publicity for the kilt. If we got that much positive publicity in my part of the world (redneck American South, and I IS one ), life would be SOOO much easier.
