Kilted Tuba Player
Our local newspaper, The Free Lance Star this morning had this article on the Salvation Army/United Way celebrations being led by the local chaper Captain leading the caroling with his tuba in a donated Kilt! Never know what you might find in the local thrift store.

Salvation Army Capt. Mike Harris plays Christmas carols for staff and customers at the group's thrift store in Fredericksburg in honor of the employees' donations to the Rappahannock United Way.

Salvation Army Capt. Mike Harris, sporting a kilt donated to the store, plays Christmas songs to his staff and visitors at the Salvation Army Thrift Store in Fredericksburg.

Tubas rock!!
I think I'll wear mine while ringing a kettle bell Monday, depending on weather.
Hmmm...wonder if they ever get kilts donated at the local thrift store...

Very cool!
P.S. I dated a tuba player in high school (before I was a nun)! He played tuba and I played drums in the school band.

I used to be a tuba and baritone/euphonium player back in the old days...but I never dated a nun!! I did date a drummer, though, now that I think of it!

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

Ok here is my friend Ally the tuba player:
In a black X-kilt with sousaphone preparing to march in a parade last summer.

Same X-kilt but tuba and indoors for the holidays

Black Stewart at the annual Tuba Christmas Concert in Springfield. Ally says the kilt is the perfect tuba-playing garb, both marching and seated. I customized her X-kilt by adding a tube mouthpiece holder at the waist. She has really gotten down the "sweep-the-pleats-while holding tuba, " which is quite a skill!
