My daughter is a Saor Patrol groupie
Now, when I say "groupie" I really mean "fan." After all, Elena Elizabeth is only four years old, and she is not particularly aware of Scotland and it's rightful place in the pantheon of great nations.
But she grooves, she digs, she dances, she shakes her booty, she shakes her body, she claps with glee, she sometimes laughs so hard she falls down, she listens attentively, whenever I start to play the CD of Saor Patrol's "Black Bull."
It is, in fact, so far, "her music." By which I mean, when she says, "Daddy, play MY music" I know exactly what she's expecting.
I've just now got me downloaded copies of Albannach's Eye of the Storm and Saor Patrol's Full Throttle (although I thought I ordered, and downloaded Full Boar), and tomorrow we shall see if she responds the same.
The apple, it does not fall so far from the tree. The pipes, and the drums, I know they're not for everyone, but they're for me, and when the pipes are skirling above the tribal, throbbing, primal bass drum, something close to hypnosis seizes me as well.
It's good stuff.
Scots aye!
