Hey there.
Hello all.
Quick introduction:
I had my first kilt about 25 years ago. Bought one at a festival and wore it a lot that summer and the summer after. It wasn't the best quality, so after 2 summers it was worn out. I never bought a new one. Until about 3 months ago. I don't know how it came, but I suddenly had a desire to get a new kilt. So I bought 2. Again, these are cheap kilts, to see if I still like to wear them. I've been wearing them every day for the last 2 months. Tried pants again last week, when we had some bad weather, and I realized that I find them so uncomfortable now.
So I decided it was time to get some higher quality kilts. That was easier said then done. Since the UK and Scotland left the European Union, buying a kilt from there has gotten very expensive. A quality kilt is already expensive, but now we have to pay roughly double that, due to import taxes and such.
Finding a kilt in mainland Europe seems to also be very difficult, unless I'm willing to pay 600-700 euro for one.
So I decided to start looking how to make one myself and found this forum.
I ordered The Art of Kiltmaking today and plan to try to make a couple kilts myself. I guess I might gonna need some help along the way, so I decided to join the forum instead of just lurking around.
I'm exited to learn more about all things kilt and eager to start the challenge of making them myself.
Now back to searching the forum and reading interesting posts.
