Little contest today
Was a little get together all our distances marked and judged properly but no crowds or entry fees involved. I'll call it the first contest of the year for me.
Snake River Claymores-Club Games
Braemar 24lb. 24'-2.5"
Open stone 17.4lb. 28'-8.25"
Heavy WFD 20"-6"
Light WFD 45'-3.25"
Heavy Hammer 62'-2.75"
Light Hammer 78'-1.75"
Caber 15 x 100 1:30
Sheaf 18lb. 18"
WFH 56lb. 11'
I feel I'm most improved on Sheaf, Light and heavy WFD and Caber.
Hammer and WFH has went backwards some and stones are about the same as always.

Ryan,
nice numbers. How many guys did you get for this?

re
I think about 17 guys. Some filtered in late and didn't get in enough events to get their scores submitted. I think it's a really good thing to do first of the year, then I know what weaknesses I need to work harder on.

We have two Games here in Nor Cal in June...one's an Invitational, about two hours away and the other is cancelled because of budget cuts. The Invitational Games is really keeping the competitor list "local", which is fine, it's their Games after all. I'm thinking that I might see if I can't make some arrangements in the Park and just get a mess of people out to throw. Sure it wouldn't be "certified", but we've got enough kit between all of us to put together a legit set of events.

Any chance I get to throw--I like. I just did one like you describe. It was a good time. I think as long as you have someone as AD, check the weights and watch the rules, then it's 'legit'. But hey, what do I know :-)

Well, we've got A 22 pound Braemar stone ...check
a 16 pound Open Stone...check
a nine pound womens stone...check
a 28 pound weight for distance and womens WOB...check
a 14 lb weight for LWFD for the ladies...check
a 42 pound weight for HWFD Masters and Masters WOB...check
Now, we DON'T have a 56'er, beyond stacked plates...hmmm.
We have a 12 pound womens light hammer...check
We have a 16 pound mens light hammer...check
We have a 16 lb sheaf and a fork....check
we have trig boards and white paint, a couple of 100 foot tapes and a WOB apparatus that goes to 15 feet. We'd need something that went over 25 for sheaf, but we can figure out something. Hmmmm... Hmmmmm....

I have an engineer looking at my plans for a Sheaf/WOB standard now. I will let you know when they are done and built. That way I can let you know how they turned out. It will be good for 32', after that you would probably hit the chain holding them together at 35'.

That is way to cool, I am getting ready to leave all my throwing buddies here in Az. I am hoping to meet up with some new ones in Southern Cal. Just reading about what you guys are doing gets me pumped and excited to start throwing again.
