Bonnet and kilt help
I reenact and do living history. I portray a Scotsman in North America in the 1760's, I'm looking for an authentic/historically accurate Bonnet and Kilt. I could use some guidance.

I believe that the cover of this book is the best example of the type of cap you are looking for. A French "slouch cap" would also been comfortable and practical for the environment and location in the Smokey Mountains (I'm assuming that is the area you are interested in from your profile).

That's exactly what I'm looking for, any idea where I might find one that's made out of the correct material and construction? I prefer here in the US

Try the ScottishandMoor Etsy shop. She does a nice bonnet with a few variations and color choices. I have a medium blue one that I really like. Mine is the larger diameter style, but she makes the smaller ones as well I believe.

Ditto. I love mine and she’ll be happy to work with you to make sure you get exactly what you want.

I was looking through some older threads and found this link. http://www.historicalcaps.net/userimages/procart11.htm
I haven't used this company and can't vouch for their products, but other members may give you a better review.
We had a member make his own caps out of felt several years ago and posted good photos of his process. However, those images have met the fate of other photos lost in the problems encountered with Photo Bucket. I found the old thread. Here is the link. https://www.flickr.com/photos/271029...7648941253325/
Good luck with this quest. Please keep us updated for future reference.

I have bought from Historical Caps as well. I have the model she calls the 77th Highlanders bonnet, but all of the kilted regiments serving in North America in the French and Indian War period likely wore something similar. The tourie, or pom-pom and band around the bonnet I have is a bit more maroon than bright red, but looks good and the quality is obvious. She is in the UK though and I know you were seeking options in the US.

You’re welcome, and I understand, I’m in the thinking about it stage.
