Scotch Rifle Guards buckle
Many years ago I picked up this buckle at a gun show. It was heavy cast brass or bronze.

The pattern is a very common one, seen in old photos from the mid-19th century and still in production today as "#355 pattern".
However it had "Scotch Rifle Guards Co C" stamped on the front, and "Robinson Adams Richmond" stamped on the back, making it me think it was some kind of 19th century Southern militia unit. These had all kinds of names, some quite strange.
One just like it just came up on Ebay so I did a little (very little) research.
Turns out there were two "Scotch Rifle Guards", Co H 21st Louisiana Infantry, and Co C 22nd Louisiana Infantry.
These buckles were reproductions made in large quantities in the 1960s by a firm in England called "CSS Alambama LTD".
Just an interesting buckle that would look sorta cool with the kilt!
