Maple Walking Stick/Cane

Here is a walking stick I've recently finished, made from maple it is quite light weight yet very sturdy. With sealed, oil cured bark and polished wood handle and brass ferrule with rubber tip, it has a rustic yet elegant finish to it.

It fits a right handed grip perfectly, the current height is 39.5" making it ideal for someone 6' or so, I can shorten it a few (2-3) inches for a shorter person without impacting the centering of the stick as its tip is nearly directly below the handle.

Nice one! If I may ask, how long did you let your wood dry? I have a few framed up and drying, which were cut from live trees - they say a year for every inch in diameter. What say you?

Mine sit for a year before I monkey with them, when I actually get around to working on it it's closer to 2
