So I Needed a Sgian Dubh...

...so I ordered a basic blade blank from Atlanta Cutlery. Using that as a guide I sandwiched a bit of walnut between two pieces of cherry and capped both the hilt and the sheath with a bit of maple. After sanding everything into shape I finished the piece by hand-rubbing with Danish oil, and then I epoxied the blade into place. (The nice thing about a Danish oil finish is that it's super smooth and I can go back any time and just rub in more oil.)

It's a little bit bulky; the overall size is about 7 x 1 1/4 x 1/2, but it feels right in my hand.

There's also a pair of rare earth magnets concealed in the sheath right where the tip of the blade is. The magnets do an excellent job of holding the sheath in place but also let go easily when the blade is drawn.

    Overall, a solid B.
