    Historic Painting Thread

I thought I'd start a thread where folks can observe several historic and historic representative paintings to possibly help get an idea of an outfit to put together.

    Enjoy:

    Lord George Murray

    John Earl of Dunmore

    Chief Norman McLeod

It is always interesting to see the mish-mash of tartans and patterns without regard for what we would call coordinating in these old painting. Thanks for starting this thread.

I've never seen that particular painting of Lord Dunmore before -- this is the one I'm familiar with:

Some of my ancestors fought under Lord Dunmore in his "War" against the Shawnees in 1774-75.

It looks like the paitings of Lord Dunmore and Archibald McNab are mixed up.

Here is my favourite historical painting of William Cumming, Piper to the Chief of the Grants, Lord Strathspey:

And here is an article about said painting by Hugh Cheape:

I seen the Arichibald McNab but the painting said it was Dunmore.. and it was the same picture Cajonscot posted
