Virginia Highland Festival – Celtic Music Weekend

I’ve been intrigued with the Virginia Highlands Festival, in Abingdon, VA for the last couple of years. They have a broad approach in celebrating their heritage over a two week span. I had been disappointed that two of my favorite bands; The Hooligans and Rathkeltair won’t be playing in the Scottish Games I attend in Virginia this year. So when I learned from Tartan Hiker that the Hooligans had signed up his son, Connell to be their bagpiper and his first gig was in Abingdon, I thought let me try to make it.

So in learning that Rathceltair is performing, another favorite of mine Coyote Run and Enter the Haggis, I’ve made my plans to make the more than 5 hour drive to the far western part of Virginia do attend next weekend’s Celtic Music Weekend. Should be a lot of fun.
