Dam
So today I'm in my "grubbies" down at the dam bookstore picking up some gifts for my lady's birthday coming up. Stopped to take a pic because I'm kinda baffled.
Running around town doing chores, dressed like this, I was stopped twice and seriously asked about kilts.
At the dam a lady from Phoenix and her teen age son wanted to know where to get kilts and accessories. They both had the fever. Gave them a bunch of websites and suggested the Mesa Highland Games in February.
Then I'm at Chief Tsosie's store and he asks me very respectfully and seriously about the kilt. Explained and pointed out that Navajo warriors wore deerskin skirts in times of yore and that Hopi's wore a garment translated from Hopi as a "kilt" rather than a skirt. Reminded him of all the cultures where males wore unbifurcated garments. He took it all in.
But hey folks, I'm grubby here. Just my chocolate brown UK Workman's (Scottish jeans), a camo hoodie, an old A-2 leather jacket, tennies.
Maybe I'm more "approachable" in grubbies than a hand sewn tartan...?
Pic is the upstream side of Glen Canyon Dam on the Colorado River.

Nice picture Ron and good on you for being such a fine ambassador of the kilt. That pict fits right in with the tread about versatility of the kilt.

Great pic, Ron, lovely background, and a nice casual look. As you said, maybe a man in grubbies is more approachable than one in his best highland wear. It never fails to amaze me the number of people who compliment me on wearing such a fine looking kilt even when I'm only grubbing around in a cheap polycotton one, and my better kilts are all hanging up in the cupboard at home.

Nice dam view! How many dam pictures did you take? I hear you can take all the dam pictures you want.

You look great Ron, not grubby at all, just casual. I really need to get one of those chocolate workman's! Even if I don't have a dam to pose in front of!

Go, have fun, don't work at, make it fun! Kilt them, for they know not, what they wear. Where am I now?

It sounds like Chief Tsosie could be like some folks out there of Scottish decent. They know where they came from & their history, but when they see it placed before them they are confused. You did well in your explanation. You are a good ambassador.
