237th Marine Corps Birthday Celebration - Scottish Arms style!
Greetings,
I recently travelled home to St. Louis, Missouri from my current adopted town of Cincinnati, Ohio, to visit family and friends whilst my lovely bride took part on a cruise to the Bahamas with one of her girlfriends. Since I was to be in St. Louis during the 237th Marine Corps Birthday on November 10, what a better way to celebrate the day than to meet up with a fellow Marine, an X-Marker and avid kilt-wearer; my good mate, Mickey! Naturally, we met at my favourite wee pub in St. Louis called, The Scottish Arms, owned and operated by Alastair Nisbet, a native of Aberdeen, Scotland.
The Scottish Arms is a very special place to my wife, Stephanie and I, and we have had countless memorable moments there through the years. Mickey and I were joined by his lovely wife, Laurel (also a member of XMTS) and their daughter, Katie. We had a most joyful time together and enjoyed the expertly prepared culinary delights in which The Scottish Arms has to offer. Of course, several pints and a wee nip of whisky were thoroughly enjoyed as well. My thanks to Mickey, Laurel and Katie for such a fine evening out in honour of our beloved Corps.
Mickey and I getting the evening started (I am making a rather unusual face!).

Mickey (wearing a new kilt and fly plaid in the Campbell dress tartan) and I.

Mickey looking well turned out indeed!

Slainte mhath and Semper Fidelis!

We had such a wonderful time!
I was lucky to find a dress that Mickey's kilt complimented just right and was dressy enough that I was comfortable by his side. I was just not happy with any of the photos of when I actually was by his side...

And, our daughter, in a rare burst of boldness tried the fried haggis cake. But, only the one bite before making this face

and refusing anymore.

The pleasure was ours as always, Kyle! Was another great night! We never get enough time when you are in town and look forward to your next visit. I thought I looked okay, until you showed up to keep me honest. LOL Good company, conversation, weather, food and whisky.. Don't need much more in life.
Thanks again JDB! Though it is a wee bit long, it fits like a glove and is my current favorite.
We got complimented by ladies, who I am quite certain later told their husbands "I think you should get a kilt"!
And my darling wife, you looked amazing

Well said, Mickey! And thanks to your bonnie lass, Laurel for posting the additional photos; I wasn't sure I should do so myself, and kind of new they would eventually make their appearance on the forum, I am glad they did!
Cheers!
