Some people think kilts are "gay", it's a twentieth century thing I think.

Some people think, or like to think that it's a skirt and therefore a woman's garment, which is why we have Rule #9.
'Nuff said... and I mean that in terms of X-Marks rules.

What it is, quite simply, is just an attempt at loading the EBay ad with keywords and search terms to make it more visible. I've noticed that "gay" and other similar keywords come up commonly when dealing with kilt-related items. I also think it's just a misguided opinion that the LGBTQ community are somehow more prone to shop for kilts and kilt-related products than others. The same thing happens when you search for leather goods. It could be the most mundane thing, and yet the advertiser will load it with all kinds of subculture-specific terms to make it appear more readily if someone should specifically search for it using those terms.

@Father Bill and Sushi: Yeah that might be possibilities to explain.
This ebay offer signalizes kilts are fetishes in general...
Of course there is a gay kiltwearer scene...but there are also gay footballers, gay model railway fans and - as I was told - gay conservative voters.
AND: I know a lot of gay men who would never wear a kilt ;-)

I've seen that before, putting "gay interest" on vintage kilt photos.
Note that if you search for "kilt" on ebay.co.uk you get over 50,000 items, "kilt gay interest" a whopping total of 8 items, four of them vintage photos of military men from the same seller.
With the wide array of things that gay people are interested in (most of them the same things that everyone else is interested in too) I don't see the benefit of slapping "gay interest" on things.

I think that men in kilts are attractive to many gay men for the same reasons that they are to many straight women. I would bet that the poster has some experience with the former and is posting with lots of "search words", some of which reflect his own interests. Just a guess though.
