Another Kilted Conference - But New Comments
Just back from three days at the brand new Twin Arrows Casino and Resort just East of Flagstaff. Was work - a Wellness conference put on by Indian Health Service. Sitting all day means kilts for me of course. I expected the usual comments but actually only had four - all friendly and all new to me.
"Hey Bro" from a middle aged Caucasian lady - guessing she was Scottish too, but she just looked at my kilt, said that, and disappeared into the crowd.
"I'm glad you dress Traditional" from a Navajo lady. Many of the Navajo men and women at the conference were dressed in their traditional garb. Was so cool she recognized the kilt and sporran as traditional garments....the Teva sandals and river shirt certainly weren't...
"You must be Ron." From a Navajo guy I'd met at other conferences...guess my kilted reputation is pretty firm on the Rez.
"I like your Celtic...um...a...um..." From a young Navajo guy trying to compliment me but forgetting the name for the kilt.
A good conference - and there's no better garment for men for the three hour drive to get there and back, and for the endless hours of sitting at the conference, than the kilt.
Wore my USA Kilts semi-trads in Firefighter's Memorial, Caledonia, and Texas Bluebonnet tartans. Took a camera but never got around to taking it out.
The Twin Arrows website shows the place pretty well though. Great food - not typical casino food. www.twinarrows.com

"I'll have a kilt please, a nice hand sewn tartan, 16 ounce Strome. Oh, and a sporran on the side, with a strap please."
