Beltaine
Hell-o Lads,
Being the good Celt that I am, I figured that I should celebrate Beltaine a little bit different than just lifting a Guinness. A friend is the squire of one of the local Morris Dancing troops. They dance in the sun every 1st of May as an ancient rite of fertility. So I went and watched, mainly because I do not know any of the steps. I enjoyed myself a lot and ran into some other friends. We went out for coffee after it was over, while the dancers had several other performances, it was rather early for the Guinness.
The funny part about it, was the audience comments, none were about the kilt. but about the dancers bells, sticks, and hats.
Has kilt wearing become a non issue?

Glen, that reminds me of a great track from loreena Mckennitt called Beltaine Fire Dance, a great song from her album "Parallel Dreams"

Graham,
One of the tunes they were dancing to and singing along with was one that I had never heard of before, and all I heard them singing was "In South Australia" nothing of the other words were distinguishable. I am just wondering if by chance you may know of it?

In South Australia I was born!
Heave away! Haul away!
South Australia round Cape Horn!
We're bound for South Australia!
Heave away, you rolling king,
Heave away! Haul away!
All the way you'll hear me sing
We're bound for South Australia!
As I walked out one morning fair,
It's there I met Miss Nancy Blair.
I shook her up, I shook her down,
I shook her round and round the town.
There ain't but one thing grieves my mind,
It's to leave Miss Nancy Blair behind.
And as you wallop round Cape Horn,
You'll wish to Christ you'd never been born!
Up the coast to Vallipo,
Northward on to Callao.
It's back again to Liverpool,
I spent me pay like a bloody fool!
I'm Liverpool born and Liverpool bred,
Long in the arm and thick in the head.
Oh, rock and roll me over boys,
Let's get this damn job over boys.
Beannacht Dé,
Hank
