    Bending versus Squatting

I got curious regarding the exposure thing when another kilt wearer suggested squatting was safer than bending over at the waist. I set up my camera in multi shot mode at about 16 inches from the floor and tried out both kilt types and many angles from 5 feet away. The kilt I used is a 22 inch USAK casual with and without the longish Rob Roy sporran and a 21.5 inch Utilikilt DDC Survival ( no sporran). I did it while the house was still warm from the heat of the day ( if you know what I mean - Nudge Nudge).

Both types of kilt are pretty safe bending over from all angles.

The story changed and the pictures got pornographic from several angles when squatting.

If I squat with my knees close together, the danger angles are between my legs and just to either side of the legs from a frontal angle. The Utilikilts narrow apron pleat system works a lot better for between the legs than the standard traditional wide apron systems here.

The farther I spread my knees apart squatting the safer the directly in front view is until you reach the point that the aprons start spreading apart then the results vary a lot! The viewing angle that lines up with where either of your knees are pointing is dicey regardless of type of kilt or sporran use. The sporran narrows the inner thigh peek-a-boo hole but makes the show from the outer thigh area worse.

    Pictures - - no way

NOTE: I used flash photography that illuminated the underkilt area. In the real world, the "scenery" would not be this well illuminated. The darker the surface you are standing on, the less illumination there will be under the kilt.

Pants is only a present tense verb here. I once panted, but it's all cool now.

It's a bit awkward-looking, but if I have to pick something up off the ground, I do a sort of combination between bending and squatting. It almost looks like a curtsy. I kind of fold my knees under me, dropping one leg back, so the kilt pretty much just lowers itself straight down. It'll get me close enough to the ground where I can reach with my arm to pick up the object.

Most of my getting down is picking up other "peoples" dog waste in the park with Aprils dog leash, bag and tools in my hands. Great bending exersizes. Am a bit reticent about puting a knee on the ground.

I could admit that it is getting harder for the old coot to get up from a squat with out my hands to help.
For the pics and test I did have a chair on both sides to help me up - thinking arthritis in my knees.

I have adopted this same curtsy method for retrieving items from the ground. A big *** on no pictures.

About the same here with this sort of action to retrieve items on the ground. I have to be careful when I go to the grocery as the tuna I buy for my cats is on the bottom shelf so it is a sortof bend the knees, drop one leg down and back as if going to the knee and take advantage of my long arms. The kilt seems to fall straight as Tobus says so I feel relatively safe Im not exposing anything.

Another great adventure is sitting on the grass, as I did this past weekend at the St Louis Highland Games. Cant just bend over and sit, it has to be a combination of dropping to the knee, bringing the kilt under and sitting back with the legs sideways until you get situated.

I also echo the sentiments of Thank you for not sharing pics ;)

Happy my veracity isn't getting challenged on the pics too
I get down to the sitting position much the same way. But I sit yogi style most comfortably, which works if you make sure there are enough free pleats on both sides. Getting up is simply rolling onto my knees and up from there.

I do the same, or if I drop something, I have my lovely bride pick it up for me! Hahaha! This seldom happens, though.

Generally I dont have any issues, because I asked the Lass how a lady picks thinks up on the floor while wearing a skirt.
I did have a pickaboo problem recently though. I was at a local farmers market. Since it was a dog friendly market, I was petting some of the venders dogs. What I didnt know was as I was petting one of the dogs my pleats got "stuck". No body said anything, but anyone who was looking my way got a full view of my neither regions.

The farmer's market comment reminded me of this. Beware of a woman selling eggs that are placed on the ground. She might be setting you up for her friends!
