    Bridge of Allan Highland games

    Hello folks,

I am visiting these games in August and just wanted some specific advice on the bridge of allan games.

How early should we arrive? Are there long ques to get to it? What is the parking like?

Can food and drink be taken in? What food and drink is on offer and what are the prices like? Is there space for picnics (weather permitting)!?

How do you get a seat in the stands?

Is it heavily crowded or is there leisurely room for all?

Where is the best place to see the events from especially the final march past?

What kind of trade stands can we expect?

    Any VIP packages available?

Sorry for all the quetions but I am looking forward to going with my wife (kilted of course) for the first time and have no idea what to expect.

Alex who posted pictures a few hers back, I you or anyone else can help, I look forward to hearing from you.

Sorry I can't be of much help. I've only been there once, with a pipe band. We arrived in a coach, stood in the rain all day, the final march-past was cancelled because the field was a quagmire of mud, and local farmers had to tow all the coaches out of the mud with their tractors at the end of the day.

A strange feature of these Games is the fact that competing pipe bands play in the middle of a track, with runners running, start-pistols firing, and loudspeakers blaring out information about the races IN BETWEEN where the pipe bands are playing and the stands.

I, too, may be going to these games. The games website www.bofagames.com gives a lot of information including how to get there and event timings. However it does not answer all the OP's questions and I cant help either.
