color change?
Do any of you guys change kilt plaids or colors depending on the season?
Spring is coming and I just wondered what you guys that have more experience than me would choose to do.

I don't, and in that sense I echo Jock Scot's comment. But, there is no reason not to do so, if you like the idea, eg cool colors in winter, bright colors in spring, warm colors in the summer, and woodsy colors in the fall.
Go for it! But don't forget the pictures, so we can enjoy your decision, too.

I tend to find it is as much the weight as the colours, for example tweeds, being warmer and also "earthier" tend to be Fall and Winter wear in regards to jackets. My tweed jackets pair better with my earth tone kilts such as my Maple Leaf tartan.

I don't have the actual kilts yet (go figure...) but i PLAN to do as you describe above, and as mookien describes as well:
I have 3yds double width of 13oz Maclaren Ancient on order to make a 6yd spring/summer kilt, for spring hikes, golfing, etc,
And in the future (late this summer) will order 4yds double width Maclaren Weathered for a fall/winter 8yd tank, for squirrel hunting, camping, winter hikes, etc....

In a way. I usually wear my MacIntyre Modern Hunting tartan for outdoor events, such as Highland games; and, I wear my MacIntyre Clan tartan for the semi-formal dinners and other evenings. So, by this trend, I tend to wear the former for spring, summer, and fall, and the latter for winter (Rabbie Burns Suppers and scotch-tastings).

Made me think a while for this one. I dress warmer in winter and that limits colors to those that go with my jackets.
By spring I am ready to change. I dress in darker colors in winter to absorb solar heat and lighter colors in summer to reflect heat. I pick the plaids that go with this logic. Although many will work in all 3.5 seasons here. I have warm running tights for underneath but have yet to need them.

The ancient will make an excellent spring/summer kilt and the weathered a great fall/winter garment.
If it were me, I would get the weathered cloth woven in 15-16 oz. weight for added warmth.
