Different Reasons for wearing the Kilt
1. I wear the Kilt because I am a proud Scot.
There is nothing wrong with that and I think this is the reason that the majority of kilt wearers will choose. It is good for the Scots who live aboard to remember their roots and their culture.
2. I wear the Kilt because I think the Kilt is going to be next big fashion trend.
People have tried in the last little while to popularised the Kilt with introduction of different styles and in lower prices. With internet, this trend is growing. The Kilts are in the closet and became part of their daily wardrobe. They wear them to clubs, the pubs and whereever they go. In general, they have no regard on what tradtional rules are. They dress however they please.
3. I wear the Kilt Because I am a Goth/Punk/Alternative person
There is nothing to be afraid of this group of people. They mean no harm. They are into the romanticism of the Kilt. So what if they alter the design by adding metal hardwares and use alternative material, like PVC and LEather. They have no desire to push their fashion sense to the mainstream of the society.
I am sure there are many more reason, but that's all I can think off this morning. Feel free to add more, if you desire.

But Raphael, I don't see you in any of those three categories. From what I have gleaned on-line, I'd be putting you into, "I wear a kilt because I like the way it looks and feels (and if pressed, I'll admit I enjoy the extra attention it gets me)," camp.

But not necessarily discouraged in all cases, at least down here in the Southeastern part of the Commonwealth.

I wear a Kilt because it makes me proud to be who I am. It gives me a confidence that cannot be explained to those who are still involved with the tyranny of trousers. I like the way it looks on me (pretty good IMHO). I love the reaction and smiles it gives other people!
Just to name a few.

I like wearing the kilt because I definitely walk to the beat of my own drummer and there are enough kilts and kilt styles out there so I can walk to a different beat each day.
They also make my butt look good.

I'll admit that a big part of why I wear the kilt is the positive attention I get when wearing it. (especially if I'm the only kilted man present )
I suppose I'm also trying to promote the kilt as an acceptable alternative male garment.

I started wearing a kilt very recently. I wear it because:
1. My heritage
2. My wife loves it
3. The freedom
and most importantly...
4. Because I want to!
