    Does this make me egotistical?

Today I learned that 2 people where I work are getting married in about 2 months. I have known both for about 3 years and what is the first thing I thought about.

Was it what I would get them to celebrate their marriage?

Was it how much happiness I wished them?

Was it how their life would be different married?

Was it how they kept their dating a secret from everyone?

NO, it was..."Gee, I wonder if I should go formal kilted or casual if it's an afternoon wedding!! As of now I don't even know if I will be invited!!

    Am I being too egotistical?

    Good G_D Richard! You're egotistical!!!

Dude... I do that ALL the time. When I was kiltmaking, I would always offer to make the kilts... even when they weren't necessarily wearing them. All that did was get their friends that WERE getting married in kilts to come to us. And it happened all the time!

Make sure to wear yours IF you get invited. That way, people will assume that there's a bagpiper!

I'm the same, but it's not so different from when we wore trousers, we might still have wondered whether to wear a black suit or casual slacks and jacket to such an event.

With kilts it's just more fun!

    Boy, do I feel better!

Alaskan..."Not trying to pick fly sh!+ out of pepper" Never heard that before but I like it

Jimmy..."That way people will assume that there's a bagpiper!" Leave it to you...enough said (hahahahah)

Graham..."...we might still have wondered whether to wear a black suit or casual slacksand jacket to an event." Yep, your right!

Thanks guys! Your advise is better than therapy...and cheaper too!!!

that's what we're here for - to encourage one another.
Just tonight I had an invite to a "formal social" fo the Caledonian Society Scottish Country Dancers.

It struck terror in my heart as I thought 'what the heck will I wear?', I don't have a jacket, more expense coming up!!

I know Blu, you told me - get a jacket!! I should have listened (I just want more kilts!!)

So you see richard, we're all the same - nuts!!

Graham, I'm in the same boat. Well, I came up with a solution. I'm going to get a couple sports jackets from the thrift shop, dismantle them and make one. This way I get sleeves, shoulderpads, fabric and lining on the cheap.

    Kilt Jacket

Go with Bubba's suggestion, Graham: a thrift store or second-hand store should have a nice black blazer. "So you're going to wear the kilt" by Thompson has instructions on how to cut a "saxon" jacket down into a kilt jacket.

The black blazer/kilt jacket makes a nice semi-formal look, similar to an Argyll jacket, save the silver buttons.

How much time are we talking about before the dance? I can always send you a copy of the directions if need be!

    Cheers !

    T.
