Has this ever happened to you?

I went kilted to a fair (not a ren-fair, a regular one) a while back. While I was on my way through the parking lot I was approached by a security guard. I figured I was going to be asked to leave my sgian in the car to which I was going to argue the technical laws of the area and event which had vendors that sold knives. On the contrary the guard started speaking Scotch Gaelic. I had to inform him that I didn't speak Scotch Gaelic, and in fact I only dabble in Manx for the purposes of reenactment. It was an interesting discussion after that. But I was just wondering if that has happened to anyone else on here?

Similar but at a Pow Wow, they thought I was a Mohawk speaker. My family never kept it up actually tried to hide it. Been on the rez a few time to see relatives that all.

After having worked 60 hours a week on a gas pipeline for over three month, many would walk up to.me a start speaking Spanish.

This gives an idea of how I would have tanned. Oh, andhad hair.
Harmony had ovarian cancer, and I shaved my head for the third time in my life. First was basic and second was when Harmonys sister got breast cancer.

Once or twice, a gentleman has greeted me in Scots Gaelic. I always take it as a great compliment that I look Scottish, not like a fool American playing dress up.

I giggled when I read this because it reminded me of an event nearly 10 years ago when I was approached by the local Algonquin band, who asked if they could adopt my daughter into their band, because she "looked like them". My daughter is actually Eurasian.
