Hello Lads
Well, it was a decent summer, all things considered. In summertime I spend much less time sitting at the keyboard and more time out chasing my little son around the yard!
Anyway, even though the sun is shining, I'm surfing the net and thought I'd do a report: "what I did this summer".
Well, between work and fmaily, the toddler birthday party circuit and various barbecues I did have some time to do some geneological (don't know if I spelled that right) research. One of my great grandmothers was a Jones (oh no, another tartan to add to my collesction, and a nice one too!). the other side were English (Elwell and Cox).
The Lloyd side of the family goes back to Flintshire, North Wales (mid 1800's is as far back as I've gone so far. Great Grandmother Jones was born in the county of Whitby in 1874.
The Elwells and Coxes came from somewhere north of Cheshire county.
Any illusions of being descended from nobility have been dashed. My great grandad was a labourer in a smelting works and great grandma Jones apparently was illiterate and signed my grandfather's birth register with an "x"!! Salt of the earth!
Its bee a very enlightening and rewarding experience thus far, and I'm looking forward to delving deeper into the family history.
Anyway, I haven't had any opportunity to wear the kilt over the summer. I've always had a peculiar view of the kilt as being a fall/winter garment for some reason. Maybe its the wool.
However, I will be wearing my kilt next Sunday to the Christening of a good friend's daughter.
My son got a kilt for his second birthday from friends of ours. He's not too fond of it right now, but I'm persevering!
Well, I guess that's it.
Cheers!
Chris

Kilts in the Sun!
Chris et al,
Just wanted to say that I really enjoy wearing my 8 yard BearKilt during the sunny days!.... Having said that, it's been a dreadful Summer in the UK, and so haven't been out in the Kilt as much as I would have liked!
Hey, and glad to hear you are tracing your roots!.... I think some of my fore-fathers got slaughtered by the scots, although some of the women-folk stayed in what is now the UK!....

Good to hear from you Chris, Family Research (easier to spell than genealogical research) is a lot of fun. My tree is hard to trace with a grandmother from Ireland with no birth records and a father who was an orphan, I hit a couple of brick walls.
I have Cox's (no 'e') in my family too, they hail from east London.

Glad to meet you hear.
Hello Chris,
I am new here so I have not had the pleasure to get to know you. Looking forward to that over next months. Welcome back. Glad you took a few minutes to tell us what you have been up to.
