So a few weeks ago, the Princess Daughter contacts me and says:“I planned to run the Crescent City Classic 10K on Good Saturday. But with my hurt knee, I have not been ableto train. So why don’t y’all come downhere for Easter and we’ll do the 10K as a family?” Seeing an opportunity to inject some FatherlyGuidance here, I inquire: “Can we do it in kilts?” Knowing Brother would wear his kilt on his fireand EMT runs if he could and knowing Sis-In-Law is the ultimate Good Sport andhas a 1st Place Women’s Division trophy from her very first HighlandGames, Daughter seizes the opportunity to commit her Mother and says “Yes! We can. It’s New Orleans so we won’t be the only ones ‘dressed up!’” And thus the City that has mistakenly thoughtit had seen it all experienced its first Kilted Krescent City Klassic 10K. (Yes, among almost 30K “normal” runners, therewere Tortoises and Hares, and Waldo, and Batman, and Easter Bunnies, and anumber of tutus, and the 501st Imperial Stormtrooper Battalion, but therewas only one kilted family! And a “photographically popular” one it was.”)
