Kilt Kamp 2013 - interest?
---------
I've now posted registration information for Kilt Kamp 2013 at http://www.xmarksthescot.com/forum/f...tration-77600/
---------
Anyone interested in coming to a Kilt Kamp this summer? Steve Ashton and I are thinking about doing one for both contemporary and trad kilts. He'd teach those who want to make contemporary kilts (tartan or other fabric, machine stitched) and I'd teach those who want to make trad kilts (knife, box, or Kingussie, hand stitched).
Where: Clinton, NY (about an hour east of Syracuse, NY), at Hamilton College
When: probably last week in July (July 28-Aug 1), with an optional day on July 27 at the Great American Irish Festival
Cost: probably about $350 for registration. Tartan, supplies, lodging, and meals would be in addition. Lodging will be available for $45/night at the College.
If you're interested, please respond to this post and indicate your level of interest. If it looks like there's enough interest, we'll get the dates firmed up and post registration information in the "Professional kiltmakers hints and tips" section of the Forum.

Barb,
I'd be very interested in participating in the 'Kilt Kamp 2013'. I would be more geared to making a traditional, knife pleated kilt including box or Kingussie. The dates are good too but I'm pretty flexible. Thanks for posting this and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that others will show as much interest as well!

Interest = 1000%, likelihood of having the time and money to attend from the opposite coast = 10%. But I'll watch this thread avidly!

I would be interested. Thinking the contemporary class this time since I took your hand sewn class in Victoria. I can make those dates. Unfortunately they fall on top of the Dayton Celtic Fest (last weekend in July) but so be it. I will substitute the Great American Irish Festival but you won't have Gaelic Storm as they will be in Dayton.

New member here. First post.
I'm definitely interested, but not yet certain if the dates will work for me. If they do, I'm in.
Are sewing skills a pre-requisite? I'm a quick learner!

If you've never held needle and thread, and you want to hand sew a trad kilt, you might feel more confident if you do a little practicing sewing in advance on a scrap piece of fabric, but having previous experience sewing isn't critical. Quicker learners do fine! Just takes a little patience and attention to detail.

I am interested in the traditional class, but I will have to do some checking on the dates.

Yes, I'll be there! What a great opportunity! My brain will end up a bit addled from all the new information, but that's just fine. Anything to be able to study with both of you! Where do we get the forms, etc.? When do you need to know by? Are meals included in the price of lodging or do I need to stop at the grocery for a large box of crackers & cheese? LOL!
Can't wait!
Only 9 notes. How hard could it be?
