If you cannot fix it, mess it up so bad that no one else can either.

Kilt This! makes kilts out of soft fleece. You can see examples on thier website or their Etsy shop.

I have never seen on of them in person, though. I have a duck cloth utility kilt from them that is excellent.
    Good luck!

Had a SportKilt made out of flannel back when. Was like wearing flannel pajamas - that soft feel. Perfect for hiking commando though.

I made one out of cotton flannel once. The fabric was WAY too light weight and wouldnt hold a crease for nothin! After wearing it for a couple of hours, it looked like a wadded up mess. Was comfortable though.

I would recommend using something else, unless you just wanted the practice.
    Somebody ought to.

Try using the flannel that quilters use. I back most of my quilts with this flannel and it's never given me a problem with washing, shrinking, piling.

The fabric one obtains from fabric shops is usually too thin.

I used a medium weight plaid flannel once and it worked out pretty nice for what it was. It was crazy soft and really comfortable but not something I'd have worn out and about. Definitely make sure to sew all the pleat edges, inside and outside. It'll get wrinkly but it'll be so comfy that you won't care. There's a bolt of gray blue houndstoothy looking stuff at Joann right now that calls to me every time I go into the store. I think it'd be perfect for lounging about the house with big cozy socks and a hot cup of tea on a cold Sunday morning.
