I can't wear a kilt at work (dress code restrictions on employees who work in the labs prohibit anything that short) but did wear my semi-trad Murphy kilt to Irish Fest of the Fox Cities (Appleton WI) on Friday.

I haven’t posted in a while, so this was me yesterday. I’m a software developer, and I went to a tech meetup and hung out with other people who build websites and automate stuff. Even got a compliment on the kilt. USA Kilts semi trad in Mackenzie Modern.

I also haven't been here for a while, but had an early evening walk today and. since it's a Friday thought I'd add my little bit. I only encountered one other person, a young lady walking her dog, who called across the road to me that he liked my kilt but expressed surprise that I was wearing one. The temperature was just above freezing with snow and slush everywhere. I then pointed out that it would be colder in Scotland where modern kilts originated from and she agreed that that made sense. In truth, I always find I'm warmer in a kilt than I would be in jeans or even my preference in days gone by for cords, (I can't fit into men's jeans - too big a bum ), as the kilt hose keep my lower legs warm, and 6-7 yards of material wrapped around my waist keep my body warm. Just a breeze around the knees, but that doesn't bother me. We parted with mutual Happy New Years and while I'm at it the same to all here.
If you are going to do it, do it in a kilt!
