    Kilted Job Interview

Where to start? I'm in Tucson for a training conference and its always a great networking venue to catch up with professional friends. On day one a long time friend said he'd changed agencies and wants me to interview with his new agency's CEO and CFO. Okay fine. Then he asks if I brought pants with me because he doesn't know how they'll react to a guy in kilts. Told him all I brought with me was kilts. So, this afternoon was the interview and I was kilted in the Edzel Navy tartan USA semi-trad which is kinda important since both the CEO and CFO are Army veterans...

Interview went well anyway and I now have a job offer to consider. So hey - you CAN interview in a kilt and get hired. Just have to consider all the pros and cons. One of the pros is a significant pay increase and another is being close to my daughter and grandkids who live in metro Tucson.

So we'll see. I've heard a few other men in the Tucson area wear kilts too....even a highland games....

I've become a kilted fixture at the conference. All comments are positive, and "I remember you." Only one dress comment so far and got that with the clarification that if I wore something under it then it would be a dress. Cracked him up.

Well, probably wouldn't fly in the careers I've had, but congratulations on the offer! Looking forward to hearing of your decision and adventures.

    Cheers & Blessings!

In my opinion it is the person that makes the interview not the clothes they wear. Congrats and well done.

Ron: Congratulations on the successful job interview and offer. Of course you didn't mention the "cons", but living close to your family and making more money are two big pluses. Good luck going forward, whatever decision you make.

Exactly why I started wearing my kilt seriously - works well, doesn't it?

Congrats Ron. Let us know what you choose. It is a big decision.

(I've never had a hiring interview in a kilt. But I have had an exit interview in a kilt.)
