My bride and I were loading groceries in Ventura, California this October when a HMA stopped and asked if it was St. Patrick’s Day as I was kilted. I told him no, that St. Patrick’s Day is in March. The HMA looked puzzled and then asked if I was Irish. He appeared even more bewildered when I said Scots not Irish. He didn’t seem to grasp the concept until I explained that ‘tis like the difference between Mexicans and Puerto Ricans. The HMA gentleman’s face lit up with understanding and departed with a smile. You gotta love the diversity in our times.
