Kilted at the Opera
Ok! Planning on wearing my kilt to the Opera in Omaha this valentines day. I'm going with a black argyle jacket a a tux shirt and bowtie, Black rabbit fur sporran. This time I promise I will take pics. We shall see how this is received. Little bit of trepidation I have to admit.

I'm sure it'll be fine.
I'd almost guarantee you'll hear "Nice kilt" or "I like your kilt" a couple times and maybe have one or two brief conversations about it and that'll be the extent of it.
The worst reaction to the kilt I've ever had was some guy scowling at me during the intermission of a play my wife and I attended. It turned out, being scowled at by a lone, curmudgeon said more about him than me and really it didn't bother me.
Otherwise, the reactions have always been benign indifference or positive looks and remarks.
Remember to keep your date front and center in your attentions, though. It's Valentines Day, after all!

Fantastic! Have a splendid time. I'm a fan of opera but seldom attend. Any particular pieces or composers that you admire?

You will do just fine and you might even start something. Be prepared for compliments. I routinely wear a kilt to the operas in Austin and Ft. Worth. Now, for the first time, there were 3 men in kilts at the Austin opera this past Saturday.

Well Mozart of course. I like Puccini and Rossini as well. I'm kind of a neophyte when it comes to opera though.

I wear my kilt to the symphony on a regular basis. I received nothing but compliments. (Well, maybe a few dirty looks from guys whose women were checking me out) Keep your head up, shoulders back, maybe strut just a little. It's a ton of fun.

I have had a subscription to the Kansas City Lyric Opera for three years now. I have worn a kilt to every performance. I have received everything from "Great look" to "Can I have my picture taken with you?". Not a single negative comment in the three years. You will be the best dressed man at the opera, I guarantee it.

Me and my work colleagues were talking about the opera and theatres today at lunch.(can you imagine four builders sat around talking about swan lake. lol) but i was recommended to start going to them, so i probably might.
So have a great night, i second the fact all your attention should be on your other half
Look forward to pics
