    Made in...

I recently bought a kilt and some other accoutrements from Scotweb. I chose Scotweb because I am a Scot and I made an emotional decision. I have no complaints. Thanks to the XMTS link I received the discount. I did have a question for them, though, to which I received no reply, so I pose it here. Scotweb's fine kilt had no kiltmaker's label, and no label to say it was made in Scotland. There is a tag with my measurements but that is all. I was a tad disappointed about not being able to proudly display the label--so sentimental, yes. Perhaps some kiltmakers--even Scotweb--might care to comment here.

I suggest you request that the moderators move your post to the "Scotweb Kilt Store" thread and/or send a PM (Personal Message) to Nick Fiddes - owner, major stock holder, CEO, Big Kahuna, proprietor, (and I think he sweeps up around the place) of Scotweb.

If you click on "Forum" at the top of this page and then scan down 2 or 3 "pages" you will find the "Scotweb Kilt Store" thread. You can then click on "Nick Fiddes" over on the right hand side of the page to view his profile and to send him a message. Good luck.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

Thanks, Mookien. That's a good idea, but I see from Nick Fiddes' latest post that he has gone for a break, so I can wait for a while. I'm still interested in what the other kilt makers do.

This thread might answer a question I have been wondering about, which is where do you order nice embroidered tags with your name to sew into the kilts you have made?

Tess I think Bonnie Heather Greene has just acquired some labels for sewing in to her kilts. It may be worth giving her a PM.

Agreed, Bonnie did recently start using her own embroidered tags so she is worth contacting. Now back to the subject matter at hand......

Agreed BP apologies for going slightly OT but as it was about tags there was a tiny tenuous link to the OP. Any way carry on..............

No Problem, you had beat me to mentioning Bonnie had tags made. I was on my phone and find my thumbs type with too many type'os.
As far as the subject matter is concerned I would think that Scotweb and other companies use quite a few different kilt makers for their work. This would be a reasonable reason not to have a made by tag on the kilt. Perhaps they just put the size and such. I would think they might place a tag stating made in Scotland but perhaps not. Perhaps some XMark'ers who have kilts made by Scotweb or DC Dalgliesh could chime in on if they have made by tags or not. Just a thought that because they hire out for the kilt making they may not put labels on all the kilts. My Two Cents
