Man wearing kilt set on fire while riding AC Transit bus

We all knew the kilt is not universally appreciated, but. . .

I heard about this on the radio during the morning commute. I hope he'll be OK.

Wow. Pretty sketchy on details. Was this a criminal assault by other passengers? Some sort of random accident (perhaps involving an acrylic kilt)? I hope we get more detail as the case unfolds.

*edited to add: Prayers for whoever this is.

Rather sketchy indeed. No indication of what caused the fire.

Other reports so far have described the victim as 18 years old and wearing a "Scottish kilt".

The SJM article says "kilt like piece of attire". Given it happened in the Bay Area and the age of the victim, it could possibly be any type of unbifurcated garment.

....either way it was a "kilt" and it appears this was motivated by either bullying, prejudice or down right meanness......

I hope the man recovers and the perpetrator is brought to justice.

I didn't see the word "kilt" used in either of the two referenced articles. I even searched for the word with no result.
I changed my signature. The old one was too ridiculous.

People seem to be going up in flames down in California lately. The story in the LA Times mentioned another man, non kilted, on fire at a golf course in Pacific Grove, and another guy burned on Halloween when his costume caught fire. ***?

The bus incident looks sketchy for sure. I hope the kid makes a full recovery, and the person responsible is brought to justice.
