Need ideas for Pride of Scotland kilt...

I just received my new Pride of Scotland kilt from UT kilts. It's awesome! Sturdy, well made....love it. I plan on wearing it on Friday for a golf tourney and need a sweater/shirt combo. Will be cool, but not uncomfortable. Should I highlight the purple, blue, black.....green? I need to buy a sweater and really just want to get one right now.

What say the rabble? Thoughts and suggestions?

My vote is for purple, but be careful, too much purple in a large block can be off putting. If you can get it dark grey/black with purple trim, I think, is best.

Well....there's a reason why neutral colors are called neutral colors....they're neutral. If you want to highlight the kilt, go with, maybe, a nice mid or dark grey. Freak them out and wear a collared shirt and a necktie...never see that on a US golf course anymore.

I agree on going with neutral colours. Trying to get all colour-coordinated with the tartan is a lot of work, and can come off as being overly fussy. Were it me, I'd go with something like an olive green (olive drab) sweater over a tattersal shirt. Or any other muted colour like grey. Necktie optional - you don't really want to go over the top with it. You may end up shedding the sweater as the day progresses, so you'll want to make sure that your outfit still works without the sweater.

Are you playing in the tourney, or just a spectator?

Thanks crew. I'm actually playing in it. I did find a nice black merino wool pullover in my closet and thought I could go anywhere with that. I like the tie idea, it would really throw them, but I'm limited to my tie selection. I have a purple ss polo that doesn't look too bad under the sweater, but I need to try it with just the kilt in case it does warm up. Could be too much.

Love he grey sweater idea. Always classy.

My vote too is for grey. Let the kilt be the center of attention.

    Cheers...Bill

The only color I tried to pick up was with my green Balmoral bonnet. Neutral is the way to go.
