Kilt4less state on their current exhire kilts listing...

SPECIAL LISTING ONLY EX HIRE KILTS FOR CUSTOMER SIZE
LEAD TIME 4-6weeks, all sizes available.
They've now added to some of their listings that the kilt maybe new as they are closing the hire department!!!

Considering I purchased a pair of shoes recently from them which arrived in 3 days, theres no way they have exhire kilts that can take up to 6 weeks to arrive!
If they can supply a huge range of tartans in every conceivable size option and it takes 6 weeks, tgen they are getting manufacturered abroad to order. NOT EXHIRE!

Any advert for exhire would always have limited stock and limited sizes available.

I asked kilts4less if their exhire kilts are 100% wool Scottish made or new made to order foreign imports....

    New message from:*kilts4less*(23,325)

    Hi,

All the exhire kilts are purchased in bulk from large UK hire/rental companies every 4-6weeks. These are all 13oz medium weight wool mostly machine made. We then change the buckles and straps for new prior to going on sale.
This listing was only set up for customers looking for sizes not in stock which we can reserve from the next batch every 4-6weeks.
If looking for a handmade SCOTTISH made kilt we have a large selection of full 6 yard kilts from £149 and full 8yard kilts from £199.

    regards
    Craig

With the heavy emphasis on "SCOTTISH" in the second bit, perhaps the definition of UK made in the first is a little anachronistic.

Yes as I said they do occasionally sell UK-made high quality 8-yard ex-hire kilts too on their Ebay store.

Which by the way have plain straps that look like they've had a small bit of wear, while the new-looking overseas-looking kilts they sell as ex-hire (which form the vast majority of their Ebay offerings) have their distinctive basketweave straps which have never been buckled.

If it's their policy to replace the straps on their ex-hire kilts, why do they only do it on new-looking overseas-looking kilts, and not on the used-looking UK-looking kilts?

Now we know the Pakistani kilts are the ones with the "basket weave" straps. A pig to undo as they are so stiff. Too much money at £200, I would definitely buy their older version ex hires. They had a Henderson Weathered which was new and well made, at £249, but since has gone up in price to £349... so not exactly Kilts 4 "Less"

I look out for vintage kilts off Ebay, and a really good reseller for Geoffrey Tailor kilts is Ministry of Tartan, who have an excellent range of kilts. Geoffrey Tailor is the Mercedes of kilts, compared to any kilt with the construction of a Chevy or Yugo
