    Pipers

Just out of curiousity. How many pipers on these forums?

Well...umm...gee...not me....BUT not for want of trying.

A couple years ago I was given a chanter ordered up from a catalog company.

I blew and blew and blew and couldn't make it work...

There's a bagpipe instructor and store 140 miles south in Flagstaff so I went down there to get a "real" chanter to learn on...prepared to spend the big bucks.

The owner asked me about the one I had...told him it was a no good catalog sale version. He asked to see it. I went out to the car and brought it in. He played it beautifully and seemingly without effort...

I sulked away...too old, too weak, too untalented to play.....

More power to those of you able to master the pipes.

Thanks for the encouragement, but he's a 5 hour round trip away on wild and crazy Navajo reservation roads....

Well, I'm a piper, anyway...Been Highland piping for around 10ish years, and I also play uilleann pipes, scottish smallpipes, northumbrian smallpipes, and just about anything else with drones! ;)

    Ron,
You were blowing way too hard. It is a very common mistake for beginners. I did the same thing.

I played bagpipes in a local band for about 2 years, but had to quit the band when I changed jobs.
