A Review of Matt's book "The Compendium of District Tar

Most of you know that Matt Newsone is the
curator of the Scottish Tartans Museum
    located in Franklin North Carolina.

He has been a wealth of information for us
    on this site.

When I was in Franklin to attend their Burns Dinner,
I picked up a copy of Matt's Book (CD)
    "The Compendium of District Tartans".

    http://www.district-tartans.com/

It is a wonderful resource of information about
tartans from all over the world.
I HIGHLY recommend this CD for anyone who has an interest in tartans.

It is on CD rom due to the sheer size of it.
Matt showed me his copy of the printed out
addition which dressed out over 450 pages.
Often I find images of tartans on the computer
    are hard to view.
These images are quite clear and
give you a great feel for the tartan.

Again I recommend this CD as a great addition for
    your own library.
For those who make tartan kilts, I
see this has being a needed tool to help with those
    customer questions.

Thank you for that review, Nelson. I've been thinking about ordering a copy for myself, but not done anything about it yet.

Does anyone know: unlike many DVDs, can CD-Roms be played anywhere in the world? The only ones I have ever used have been produced, as far as I know, here in the United Kingdom or possibly made for our market.

Yes, Hamish, Data CD's are pretty much viewable anywhere, assuming that the CD is burned to one of the usual standard formats. It's nothing like the PAL/SECAM hassle you run into with European/USA DVD's.

MAC, the volume sounds amazing and like a blinking lot of work and love went into it. Sounds like something to be proud of.
