Solid Proof of a Kilted Fashion Revolution
So, this afternoon I'm in my local True Value Hardware picking up a couple of inexpensive plastic key hanger dealies to stick to the inside of my closet door and hang my growing collection of cloth "sporrans" from.
I'm wearing my forest green Amerikilt with a khaki cloth "Sporran" with a Buzz Kidder "Sons of Scotland Unite" t shirt and leather Teva sandals.
A guy in his late 40s, carrying some stuff, obviously working on some project stops me and says, "How do you afford your kilts?"
Now that's a new line. Just told him politely that the comfort was well worth the cost for me.
Then he said he'd just bought his first kilt, a Utilikilt, on ebay and was waiting for it to arrive. But he kept moving on his project and so did I.
Guessing he was a local...not a tourist.
If so...here in the booming city of Page, Arizona population 6,800 smack in the middle of the canyonlands, 140 miles to the nearest shopping mall, there may soon be two...count 'em...two kilted men.
Don't know what better proof there is that kilts are making a fashion statement for common sense and testicular freedom.

"I'll have a kilt please, a nice hand sewn tartan, 16 ounce Strome. Oh, and a sporran on the side, with a strap please."

Christ, Marx and kilts, conquering the world one heart at a time.
edit: that's not my political agenda. It's a paraphrase of someone's view on the competition for the soul of the modern world.
