Tartan Question
Greetings all ,
An ebayuk seller has a kilt for sale that is claimed to be Stewart Hunting weathered tartan . As you can see , it really isn't .
Here is the link :
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MENS-HAND-...item4610360878
Here is a pic of the seller's kilt :

And here is a true pic of Stewart Hunting weathered :

My question is .... can anyone identify the tartan of the seller's kilt ?
I have looked around and done a little bit of research , but to no avail .
Thanks , Mike

It looks like Brodie Hunting weathered to me. It's definitely NOT Hunting Stewart. Not even close. I think if the write up is straight and the seller did buy it from Lochcarron as Hunting Stewart he needs to pop back and have a word.
SRoT link to Brodie Hunting is on this clicky. Bear in mind that with weathered tartans grey is blue and brown is green (usually).

Well done, John. I think that you've hit the nail ont the head. Here's a link to the Lochcarron tartan site.

Yup, Brodie Hunting weathered. I would also hazard a guess it is Lochcarron's strome cloth. I have made a kilt from that cloth before and the colors and sett size seem identical. Plus, I think Lochcarron is the only mill that stocks it.

No bother. It must be said, incorrectly described or not, it's a very handsome kilt.

English Bloke , so true , it is a handsome kilt . I also agree with Matt , it appears to be Locharron strome .
However , what's your thoughts about the label on the kilt ? Premier Kilts ? I'm not familiar with that one .

If you wanted it, it's too late! You'll just have to hope the owner puts it back up. You could always contact him. This listing was ended by the seller because there was an error in the listing.

Me neither, never heard of them. Google-fu not working either. Lots of 'Premier Kiltmakers' and companies making 'Premier Kilts' but not "Premier Kilts" specifically. Looks like a nice job though. I have Lochcarron labels in some of my Kilts so I'm not sure why they would use someone else's label in a kilt made by them... assuming this statement is true
Quote from ebay listing: Bought from Lochcarron Weavers and hand made and stitched at their factory in Selkirk

'Appen the seller knows the kilt is being talked about and that it isn't quite what it says on the tin... Too small for me anyway.
