    Tartan Software?

I'm looking for tartan designing software, just something to toy with, as I don't really plan on doing anything serious with it. Are there any free programs, or even online flash versions? I've looked around, but not found anything I really cared a lot for. Thanks

I have played with the demo version of tartan generator a few times. Its fun to play with... Functions are limited, of course, but you can still do custom tartans....

I could always send the exe to you (about 2.3MB), after I zip it first.....

Check out my web site here:
    On-Line Tartan Resources

I have many on line resources, including an on-line tartan designer that works pretty well. All free!

I've tried tartan generator, for the same reason as you, ( I just want to play around with designing a tartan) but it will nor run on my computer. I get a 16 bit subsystem error. it says:

c:\windows\system32\autoexec.nt. The system file is mot suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications.

I am running windoze XP, and it runs fine..... interesting.... are you using NT?? I haven't used NT for so long, I have no idea anymore how to set environment variables for compatability....

I have used the website that Matt links to, I just don't like it at all tho for playing around... it seems slow and cumbersome to me.....

I know there are others out there, but tartan generator is filling the bill for now....

I'm running Win XP home edition. I suspect that I have some sort of problem with my local settings, but I'll have to wait until my daughter comes home from college for a visit. She is attending a computer college and is far beyond me in computer skills.
