    toronto night out went well

well if I'm the first one up and on the PC you all must have been very drunk,I think some of you may not even be home yet.
seriously, had a great time, met some very nice people.
thanx to blu for a ride home, saved me $80-$100 in a cab, you know what those bloody cab drivers are like, rip-off artists at best.;)
look 4ward to our next gathering.
anyway off to hang up my kilt now, just threw it on the spare bed last night.(hick)

I didn't roll out of bed until 10:00 a.m.; shouldn't have had that last whiskey I guess!

We had a wonderful time and were pleased to meet such a nice group of people.

We had a few comments on the kilts. A couple of young ladies stopped to ask why we were kilted and, inevitably, the question about underwear came up.

Another gentleman asked if we were in a pipe band or something.

Other than that, nobody even really seemed to notice, or care, that there were a bunch of guys in kilts hanging at the bar!

Special thanks to John Maxwell (owner of Allen's) for a round of drinks on the house.

The next gathering will be May 1 to celebrate the "Virtual Hamish World Tour."

Quite glad to do it, Phil... my wife and I had a great time and enjoyed the company all present. We talked about it all the way home this morning. Also, thanx to Allen's for the free Guinness.

Thanks all for a great time, and of course to John for the round from Allen's.
Everyone looked splendid in their attire, and of course the ladies who supported their mates, having to listen them go on and on about style of pleats, how many yards, tartan's kilt makers etc the best way to care for the kilt. (I think they had a little bit of a chuckle) As well as not pay attention to the monies we secretly invested in our wonderful attire.
I may have caught some gripes from the lassies. That they were losing closet space to kilts...hmm I think we have to upgrade on size of a house for the new additions to the family...kilts I mean...So guys How many kilts have you on order that your wives don't know about eh?
    Thanks for a wonderful evening.
    Let's make May 1st Rock
    Cheers

I'm glad everyone had a good time. I think that, with a little more organization and promotion, we can increase our numbers for the next outing. I have some qquestions for those who attended:

    1. Did you think Allen's was a suitable location or would you like the next one to be at a more causal establiahment (with smoking allowed)?

    2. Did the actual geographic location work, given the places we were all coming from?

    3. Are there any ideas for promoting the next event to get more people out?

1 was ok, would have liked to make it more of a crawl, there was 2 or 3 pubs in spitting distance.
2 was ok getting there 2 hrs door to door, bus, train, subway, great getting home, thanx to blu, or it would have been expensive.
3 put up flyers in the pubs and in local tartan shops.
4 how big is your guest room?

Chris, I forgot to say thanx for setting up the evening in my last post so.... thanx for setting up the evening. My only comments about the location... a great atmosphere but it was a bit cramped. I could sense that one of the young ladies waiting tables was a bit annoyed that I was in her way. Getting in and out was easy... 401, down Vic Park, O'Connor right to the parking lot which was quite cheap, (only $4.00). As for getting the word out... I'm still thinkin'.

I could be totally off my rocker, but isn't the danforth near the beaches area? Phil mentioned a crawl. Last year an English friend and myself did the pub crawl through (kingston? the main street in that area) the beaches area. There were about 5-8 pubs, including 2 very cool Irish pubs. Just a suggestion.
