    Trews making

I have six yards of good wool tartan that has ratty selvedge. If made into a kilt it would require hemming. I'm thinking I'd rather have it made into trews. I'd prefer the style with no outside seem down the leg. Can anyone share with me an actual pattern for these? How about good photos and an good written description of how they are made? Anything?

I wear kilts almost daily, depending on the wind and the cold. I think tartan trews might be nice to have for those days I don't wear a kilt, but want to keep a similar look.

This post shows trews being tailored with no side seams. It requires a great deal of careful iron work to make the stripes appear straight. There's an image there of a draft from 1916, but without the drafting directions it might take a little work to figure it out.

Thanks for sharing the link, Andrew! Never thought about wearing trews before, but the finished product looks very nice.

Typical XMTS. A bloke from Boston Mass. gives a link to a tailor who does military trews. An interested reader clicks on the link and it turns out that the tailor is located on the other side of the Atlantic from the poster but just a 40 min drive from the town where the reader grew up. That's shameful.

Shameful? Not at all. Just shows how interconnected we are nowadays.
