Yet another "hybrid" jacket
For those with plenty of money, here is an interesting jacket. Based on the sleeve length, I believe it is cut slightly shorter than a regular Saxon blazer, but still longer than an Argyll. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Ralph-Lauren...item3a8bad626f
Any thoughts or comments? Somehow I think I would buy something else before I got this- Rod Stewart notwithstanding. And then there is the size...

Not something I'd be interested in wearing.
Interesting, one photo shows a tag with a 38 on it, while another says 40R.

I think of myself as a more "fashion forward" kind of guy but that is neither cutting edge [fashion forward] nor traditional. IMHO it sucks no matter which way you look at it, Contemporary or TCHD.

It may work for black tie with tartan trewes but the cut looks wrong for a kilt.

Perhaps it's just me, but my general rule of thumb is "if Rod Stewart is wearing it, I don't want it, as it's almost certainly dreadful."

I have seen a few like that worn with trews. I also see quite a few a bit like that but "kilt cut" and single button worn with the kilt, although most do not have pocket flaps.

It looks to me like the pockets are high enough up on the coat that if you wanted to you could have the jacket shortened to "kilt height" and not screw up the look, or feel of the jacket. I'm suspect that the 600.00+ that they want for the coat's "a bit strong", and I'd be willing to say that you could probably have one like it custom made for probably less than 1/2- 1/3 rd that price. OR at least I'm suspect that in Tulsa Oklahoma you could have custom made for 200-300.00

I like it, but I don't think it is a kilt jacket. As Jock Scot and MacRobert's Reply have suggested, it could work with tartan trews.
