Hi guys. I'm wondering if this street act is being quite traditional with a pipe, snare, mid and large tom. I've seen them perform quite a few times in Glasgow & Edinburgh and they seem pretty good... I love their style (musical and their choice of dress for the music!)

I've had a discussion about them with someone who described them as being "the ordinary traditional Scottish civiliians with pipes and drums" which I thin matches them quite well - although I'm also wondering if they would have had people playing like this is the 13th, 14th, 15th centuries?

Common? That's a relative term. They exist, but mostly only at festivals. I've never seen a snare in a tribal drumming group.

Me neither... I dont think it was invented at that point - 1500 if my memory from music classes 3 years ago serves me right and they werent in common western use for a while.
I think the band is a mix of the pipe bands through the ages
nevertheless they sound good and I've given them a few pounds on a couple of occasions for entertaining me

I'm pretty sure this is four members of the six person group known as "Clan an drumma" or Children of the Drum.

They are primarily drummers. The pipes are incidental.

Awsome sound and energy. Traditional? no.

Yes... I've seen the band a few times - with 3,4,6 and 7or8 people each time. I think they had 3 pipes one time I saw them too.

They used to perform at my local highland festival, pre-breakup
