Would this Sgian dubh work for all occasions?
I wondered if it would be possible to get an opinion if this home-made sgian dubh would be allright for daywaer, and more formal occasions?

The challenge to me was to try and make such an animal.
The scabbard is in need of a bit of finish, and the blade picture was taken before I had all the file-marks polished out, but I think you will get the overall picture!
The bit of sterling silver on the pommel, above the cape buffalo horn cap, was an attempt to make it blend in for more formal occasions, but hope it is a small enough detail to not make it obtrusive for day-wear!
    The blade's 19th C buggy spring.

Thanks in advance for any input.

I don't see any reason why you could not wear it to any occasion that you wish. Alright it has not got the glitz and glam of some dress models, but there is nothing to say that you can't. Besides most of it is stuffed inside your sock(a shame) and the top looks not unlike many "dress" sgians. I wish I could make things like that!

I agree with Jock. What a cracking sgian. If I had the ability to make such a thing I'd be wearing it everywhere.

I agree with the gents above. I bet it means more to you than a store bought one and I think you have created a great balance between casual and formal. I am jealous of your creativity too.

Thank you for the positive replies, Gents!

I think you hit the nail on the head jock, re only the top bit showing. I was thinking along those lines, that if the top was a bit "jazzy" It might just work for the somewhat more formal times.
(I can't see me ever going to a Really formal event!......Burns night or a wedding would about capt it!)
    Thanks again for the replies!
