Hibernial dress, caledonial custom: A brief history of irish kilts & tartans
I found this (LINKY THINGY) interesting article by Matthew Newsome & Todd Wilkinson on the Irish pipe Band Assoc site. Its about 10 pages of word so I put the link up rather than the whole article.

In the words of a John Ford Subaltern, "I THANK YOU, SIR!"

Those not wishing to open a word document can read the article here:

Comments & additions (with proper documentation) are always welcome.

    You're welcome?

It's a great article and certainly worthy of promotion and/or another discussion. I posted the link to the original discussion for information's sake.

Indeed, one can't mention the word "Irish" and "kilt" together around here without stirring up a hornet's nest...

Seriously though, I really enjoyed reading a properly researched article on the subject.

That is a great article. I read it originally on the STM website. I still want to buy a kilt in my wife's county and family tartans though :D

As well you should -- just don't claim an ancient pedigree for it.

Thank you both for the comments!
