    Heritage Plaid
    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone could help for my upcoming wedding in August?

I’m keen to get a plaid for my kilt but unfortunately the tartan has been discontinued. My tartan was called ‘Heritage’ https://www.tartanregister.gov.uk/ta...tails?ref=1694

My family are not originally Scottish so didn’t have a nice family tartan to go with. I’m based in Glasgow

Anyone know any very similar tartans that might look ok, or where I might get one second hand?

    Cheers!

I hope you find what you're lookiing for, but as a 'corporate' tartan, it probably didn't have an extensive run, and possibly no plaids at all were ever made up.

Having said that, please, under no circumstances should you wear a plaid of 'similar' appearance with your kilt. The wearing of two different tartans, even similar ones, is one of the strongest taboos in Scotland and the knowledgeable kilt and tartan community.

Finally, I have plaids for each of my two kilts. I gave them to my wife to wear as shawls. I wore one once and it was a damnable nuisance, and frankly, looked silly in the venue, although I'll grant you a plaid for your own wedding if you can find the right one. If it's faded or a different sized sett, that's still okay, but I'll likely never wear a plaid again.

    Good luck!

You might want to consider what is commonly called Campbell of Cawdor nowadays but which started life as Pattern No.230 or Argyll. It has the same colours in broadly the same proportions and is readily available.
