Great pictures. It's humbling to think of all those that have passed over that ground centuries before.....

I like Mike, descend from the Lamont Clan. I have been there twice and got that "I am home feeling". The sense of peace and tranqulity was almost overwhelming. Right next door is Knockdow, the branch of the Lamonts that I directly connect to. It is 5400 acre estate that was sold in 1949 when the last Laird of Knockdow died. I am thinking of storming the walls and taking it back. haha!! I am sure I was mentioned in his will even though I wasn't born then. It will be a golf course in the near future, the mansion will be turned into a hotel. They plan on keeping the Lamont theme, they are looking for old furnishings and Lamont artifacts to decorate it.

It is truely sad that so much of our history is being turned into tourist traps. There is no sentiment for history or the sacred. I have visited several sites sacred to the Chickawsas, Cherokees, and Choctaws. My Tribes have forgotten thier old lore. Nothing but tourism. I have been to sites with groups. On a dig in Arkansaw once we were excavating a small Choctaw villiage. I was able to accurately describe the villiage early on. I could describe the daily life for the Archeology students. The Proffessor was very impressed. I was asked to visit his class afeter the digg had been completed. After talking to the students, the Professor said" Wow, it's as if you were there." I smiled said " Iwas." and walked away. The Governments of India and China have done extensive research into reincarnation. Maybe you have been there before.

as The Great Yogi Bear once said.... It's Deja Vu all over again !
Did you ever wonder what would happen if you had amnesia and deja vu at the same time???

Wonderful piccies. Isn't is amazing how strong those arches must be. These were the elements that made the great cathedrals so successful. The one pic of the lone arch was poetic.
Very cool about how connected you felt to the setting and history. It's a mysterious thing, that call of the ancesters. Glad you had the experience and "memories".

I am a "Toward", which I have known for some time was part of the Lamont clan. I am curious to know what connection that gives me, however distantly, to this castle or where I may be able to turn to find out.
