    If you're making a box pleated kilt, you'd need to buy just two yards of double width for a medium sized kilt (you split the double width to get the four yards you need). If you're on the generous size, get 2.5 double width.

    Unless you get bitten by the asymmetrical tartan bug (remember the Maple Leaf remnants?) and want to avoid flipping/hemming. . . not all that common, just something else to remember.
